Skopelos Greece, Sporades: A collection of pictures in the island of Skopelos

The island of Skopelos is lying between the islands of Skiathos and Alonissos, forming, with Skyros, the archipelago of the Sporades.

Like the rest of the group, Skopelos is very green, full of pine forests, vineyards, olive groves and plum, pear and almond trees.

Skopelos is less commercialised than Skiathos and, despite its important tourism, it has kept its authentic atmosphere. The capital of the island is particularly attractive with its narrow alleys and its beautiful houses with red tiled roofs and balconies.

The island of Skopelos is full of long sandy and pebbled beaches shadowed by olive and pine trees. It also offers numerous romantic and secluded coves with trees descending until the crystalline waters.

Most of the beaches of the island are situated on the south-western and western coasts and are protected from the wind.

The closest beach to town is Stafylos, lying in a lovely bay; because of its proximity, it gets very crowded. For those seeking water sports facilities and touristy amenities, Panormos is the place to go.
