Andros Greece:
Pictures of Andros island, Cyclades
The island of Andros is the northernmost
island of the Cyclades. It is also the second largest after
Naxos and the greenest of the group.
The island produces citrus fruits and olives and is the only
island of the Cyclades to have pine forests, mulberry woods
and numerous water sources.
The capital of the island is called Hora; it is a really attractive
village paved in marble and schist, with old neoclassical
mansions, squares with ornate wall fountains, whitewashed
houses and narrow alleyways shadowed by arcades.

The fine sandy beaches and coves of Andros
are concentrated on the western coast, between the port, Gavrio,
and Paleopolis Bay and on the eastern coast, near the capital
of the island.
A few beaches can also be found on the northern coast, in
the Gulf of Vitali and in Cape Gria.
The most organised beaches are the one located near the capital
and near the main port; they propose umbrellas and sun beds
rentals as well as various sea sports facilities. The other
ones are left to their natural beauty, totally unspoiled.
